NIMCJ  organises national level seminar `Media Convergence Meet’

Ahmedabad: ‘If a journalist has to survive in the profession and create an identity then the primary qualities that any journalist should be to remain fearless and unbiased,’ said senior journalist Mr M G Vaidya during the inaugural session of the day seminar on Media Convergence Meet organised by NIMCJ at AMA recently.

Speaking during the session, Mr Vaidya said that as journalists they should also possess the quality of being gutsy and not fear to write against the person in power. If there are misdoings about the person then it should be highlighted that’s where the unbiased character of the journalist is put to test, said Mr Vaidya.

The blog www.newsblog.nimcj.org was inaugurated in the presence of Mr Vaidya,by veteran journalist Mr Asim Mitra and senior journalist Mr Rakesh Khar.

During the first session, director of NIMCJ Dr Shirish Kashikar briefed the guests about the institute which was followed by a  lecture by Mr Mitra on the `Changing Scenario of Newspaper Industry.’ The session was chaired by State Head of Divya Bhaskar Mr Ajay Umat.

The second session on `Electronic Media: Facing threat of Credibility.’ was addressed by Mr Khar who addressed the students about the present scenario. The third session on `Scenario of Mass Communication in South Asia’ was addressed by Dr Binod Agrawal, director of Taleem.

The fourth and last session was addressed by television actor & television producer  Smriti Irani on `Television in India: Realities and Myths’ After every session the students were able to have a direct interface with the speakers. And prior to every session the students of NIMCJ made power point presentations briefing the audience about the subject.

During the day long seminar the trustees of Vishwa Samwad Education Foundation including Managing Trustee Mr Pradip Jain, Mr Bharat Patel, Mr Sunil Mehta , Mr Haresh Thakker were also present. Guest faculty co-ordinator Mr Vijay Chauthaiwale co-ordianted the proceedings of the seminar.

Gracing the occasion were representatives of several media houses and editors of several regional and national media.
